Short biography

Ryan is intimately familiar with the Obama Campaigns in 2012 and 2008. As the Executive Director of Social Innovation at Blue State Digital (BSD), the agency behind Obama's 2008 digital campaign, he's an expert in Obama For America's online practices.

He oversees BSD's agency-level social strategy while building and maintaining client relationships and fostering communication innovations.

He's contributed to campaigns for over fifty clients, in the corporate, non-profit, & political sphere including: The NAACP, The X Factor, Rockefeller Foundation, It Gets Better, YMCA, Francois Hollande's French presidential campaign, and Lady Gaga's Born This Way Foundation. Prior to heading social media at Blue State Digital, he managed campaigns with clients including Microsoft and United Way.

Before joining Blue State Digital, Ryan divided his time between digital marketing for Broadway and new media strategy for political campaigns. With Bay Bridge Productions, Davis created social strategy for Tony Award winning Broadway shows. As a politico, he served as New Media Director on numerous New York City & State campaigns and was a member of the webteam for Howard Dean’s revolutionary 2004 presidential campaign.

He first campaign was as Maryland State Youth Coordinator for John McCain in 1999. Ryan regularly speaks on the intersection of digital media and politics, including appearances at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, Yale University & The New Hampshire Institute of Politics. Ryan has been honored by The American Association of Political Consultants and was named by NBC 4 as one of New York City’s top 20 voices in social media.
